Buje

Tourist destination info Buje

Buje is a town in the north-western part of Istria, only 13 kilometres from Umag. Due to the vicinity to the coast, sub-Mediterranean vegetation prevails. Buje is the centre of this agricultural region, surrounded by fertile fields and vineyards. Also well developed is electronics industry. Buje is an interesting tourist destination especially because it lies 222 meters above sea level, so the hilltop offers a magnificent view of the surrounding terraced fields and arable land, vineyards and olive groves. This entire region is the most famous wine-growing part of Istria with numerous wine cellars (24 wine trails) and farmhouses. A special offer are gastronomic excursions to catering facilities where “at the same table” one finds both highly-prized truffles, game, top-quality Istrian prosciutto, cheese, and seafood specialties. There are also opportunities for hunting tourism and horseback riding. The accommodation is private, in rooms, apartments or in some of agro tourisms.
